About This Race
Set against the stunning backdrop of Moab, Utah, the Canyonlands Half Marathon and 5 Mile is a premier road race that winds through the majestic red rock canyons of 'Postcard Alley.' This USATF-certified course follows the Colorado River, offering runners an immersive desert experience that culminates in a festive finish at the scenic Lions Park.
What Makes It Unique
- Postcard Alley Course: The race uniquely closes Highway 128 to vehicle traffic, allowing runners uninterrupted views of 1,000-foot sandstone cliffs and the winding Colorado River.
- Decades of Heritage: Established in 1976 with only 22 finishers and a dog, the event has grown into a world-class 'bucket list' race recognized by Runner’s World UK as one of the world's greatest.
- National Park Proximity: The route runs parallel to the border of Arches National Park, providing participants with a front-row seat to the iconic geological formations and shifting desert light of the American Southwest.
