About This Race
Staged in the heart of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the Rock River Canyon ultramarathon is a 50K journey through one of the state's most remote and pristine wilderness areas. Runners traverse a fast, out-and-back course that balances moderate elevation with 'Zen quality' single-track, providing an immersive experience in the silent, ancient forests south of Munising.
What Makes It Unique
- The route explores a rarely followed section of the North Country Trail, taking participants through the secluded river valleys of the Rock River Canyon Wilderness.
- With 26 miles of high-quality single-track and a runnable elevation profile, the race is specifically designed to be accessible for marathoners transitioning to their first ultra.
- The event enforces a strict 100-runner cap to preserve the wilderness character and provide a uniquely solitary, introspective running experience.
