Silverton Alpine Runs

Silverton, CO

About This Race

The Silverton Alpine Runs is a high-altitude trail event held in the rugged San Juan Mountains of Colorado, beginning and ending in the historic town of Silverton at 9,318 feet. The course follows the famous 'Alpine Loop' jeep roads, challenging runners with a peak elevation of nearly 13,000 feet while offering views of stunning glacial valleys and wild alpine peaks.

What Makes It Unique

  • Peak Altitude: The 50K and marathon courses reach a staggering high point of 12,930 feet at California Pass, testing runners with extreme elevation and thin mountain air.
  • Ghost Town Route: The trail traverses through several late 19th-century mining ghost towns, including the well-preserved ruins of Animas Forks, Eureka, and Howardsville.
  • Mountain Duo Challenge: Participants have the unique opportunity to compete in the Silverton Alpine 50K on Saturday and the Kendall Mountain Run on Sunday to earn the 'Mountain Duo' finisher award.
